Last spring I had a chance to speak with Railroad Earth’s Todd Sheaffer about The Forecast Buy generic Reductil, . We discussed the song and the idea to create a blog about environmental issues and he offered his insights about whether his music can really change the world…
What was your inspiration to write the song “The Forecast”?
It started with the music, Andy (Goessling) had a guitar part and the lyrical concept was inspired by the music. The music has a shift in it between the major and the minor and has changes in the end that have an unsettled feeling to it. Purchase Reductil, The way I work as a lyricist is that I just sing and try to make sense of the thoughts that seem to be presenting themselves as I’m hearing them from the music.I never really just write lyrics, I kind of sing with the melody and try to make sense of it. The idea that emerged, that I honed in on, is that sort of unsettled quality, Massachusetts MA Mass. .
At this point the argument about climate change is over – there is a problem that needs to be addressed, buy generic Reductil. But at the time we were making Amen Corner there was still an ongoing debate. Listen to the chorus of the song - you don’t really need to do anything other than look around you and get that unsettled, eerie feeling that there’s something wrong. Texas TX Tex. , “I hear the river crying…” – if you’re open and sensitive to what’s going on around you, it’s just undeniable. You can hear it, you can see it, and you can feel it, Koop korting Reductil. “ Buy generic Reductil, I see a mountain dying, right before my eyes…” – it’s painful to see and watch and then to hear that there’s nothing wrong. Just look – it’s right in front of me, I see it and you can’t tell me there’s nothing wrong. The songs end, Connecticut CT Conn. , “We passed the gate, dark and late, we keep rolling along…” Everyone knows we can change things; it’s just hard to do.
How did you come up with the idea to start an environmental blog?
It was an idea to expand the boundaries or horizons of what we can do as a band and “The Forecast” seemed like a great umbrella to put these ideas into. It’s something the band thinks about and we all believe in, buy Reductil cheap. As the band grows and we have more fans out there, it seemed like a good time to start broadening the scope of what we bring as a band, buy generic Reductil.
Can you change the world with your music.
I guess so; I haven’t really thought about that a lot. It’s just kind of like baby steps – it’s just an idea and thankfully you are on board with this idea. Order Reductil online, It just seemed like a good idea but the follow through and details – that’s tougher. Buy generic Reductil, It’s really cool that thanks to you, it’s turned into something and we’re excited to see where it might lead. I think that once you put something in motion like that, things happen.
We have fans who travel around with us and we can make them more aware of their surroundings and local issues that might be occurring along our tour route. I’d like to see fans bring their local issues to The Forecast blog and we can help raise awareness among our fans, Reductil without prescription. The band has worked with The Delaware River Keeper in New Jersey, making people aware of what they’re doing so they can maybe lend a hand or just be more aware of local issues.
Like that power line issue in the Delaware area that Tim (Carbone) told me about last fall and I posted some information about it on The Forecast, buy generic Reductil. That issue is really interesting and timely – and there’s something people can do to help.
That’s really close to home, Nebraska NE Nebr. , basically right through my neighbor’s yard. The farm where we have rehearsed a lot in the past, in the barn – the power line goes right through their hundred acres there.
Did the power company gain the rights through eminent domain or did they buy them out?
Well, many years ago, Minnesota MN Minn. , my friend’s dad sold them the rights to it. So they had the rights, but I’m not sure he was aware they were going to triple it in size.
Buy generic Reductil, Well, it’s interesting because after I starting looking into that issue for The Forecast I realized that it’s complicated sometimes. Washington WA Wash. , You hear about different facets of that issue, like that the project is about building a nationwide power grid and upgrading our infrastructure but they’re taking land in sensitive areas.
I’m sure it’s complicated like anything else. What is the answer there. I don’t know, Hawaii HI , but in our area it’s a really awful eyesore and shoot, you don’t really want to live near it. How close do you really want to be to something like that, buy generic Reductil. Not very, Reductil sale, seriously. Isn’t there some way they could bury it in the ground or something. Maybe that’s bad too (laughs). We’ve got to get back to a simpler way of living, right, Reductil without a prescription. Buy generic Reductil, It’s just so crazy.
Why is it important to the band that your fans care about environmental issues.
Well, it just seems so damn obvious…
Not to some people…
Well, Billiga Reductil apotek, to me it’s just unbelievable. I mean, do we really need to debate this!?. If there’s even a one in one billionth chance that the data is correct, that’s still too much of a risk to even just sit here and talk about it, Arizona AZ Ariz. . It’s just crazy, buy generic Reductil. I mean, we’re talking about the end of the planet. We’ve totally thrown the entire planet off kilter and we’re sitting here debating about it and wondering why we have to be concerned about it. Buy Reductil no prescription, To me, it makes my skin crawl – the terms that are even used to talk about it. We talk about “nature” in the third person like it’s something removed from us. Buy generic Reductil, It’s gotten to the point where it’s not even “us”, it’s something “else”. Oh, its “nature” and we’re not even part of it, Rhode Island RI R.I. . It’s just all those “other creatures”. Humans are so wrapped up in themselves. It’s like, North Dakota ND , seriously. Do people really have to keep talking about this, buy generic Reductil.
Does the band do anything while you’re on tour to reduce your carbon footprint or live more sustainably?
Running around from town to town on a diesel bus is obviously not the most environmentally friendly way to do things… but everybody travels together on one bus now. We used to have three buses running around, so this is a lot better. And other little things, farmacia Reductil baratos, like trying to eliminate plastic water bottles. We fill up our gallon jugs of water and try not to throw away a bunch of containers and stuff like that. Buy generic Reductil, But other than that, it’s certainly not the most environmentally friendly job…
A lot of your lyrics weave in different imagery from nature like birds, mountains, rivers and things like that. What about the natural world inspires your song writing. Ordering Reductil,
It just amazes me how people can’t be in tune with nature – with their natural surroundings… it’s where we live. I’ve always been drawn to live in places where I can be in tune with nature. I like a place where I can hear the birds sings, see the stars shine, listen to the wind blow through the trees, buy Reductil from canada. And of course it ends up being in my songs, buy generic Reductil. Songs are inspired by what you’re feeling and what you’re living.
For years I lived in that house where the Amen Corner videos were filmed. I was in the middle of a lot of land –surrounded by the birds and the bears and the raccoons and the skunks and the possums and the foxes… that’s how I’ve lived for a time. Where to buy Reductil, Where I live now the Appalachian Trail runs through my backyard, I’m right by the state park. Buy generic Reductil, That’s really where I like to be and of course I find inspiration there. I love trees. I love rocks – rocks to a strange degree. I see a nice one on the side of the road and I have to stop and look at it, where to buy cheap Reductil, then I bring some home (laughs)…
That’s cool (laughs)… I can relate, I have rocks from all over, every camping trip…
I’m strange like that, Order Reductil no prescription, too. Last year I was over at my folk’s house and my dad took me, he’s the same way really, and he’s showing me around some of these the trails that he just made through his property and showing me these rock piles that he’d been making. I thought, “Oh geez, I see where that came from!” Like the song, “The Old Man and the Land” was inspired by my dad, buy generic Reductil. It was always his dream to find a beautiful piece of property and live on it. When I was a little kid I remember him taking me out, showing me all the beautiful spots that were on this property that he ended up getting.
That song and “The Good Life” really reminded me of my last house up in the foothills – we had bears and were really close to the forest, out in the country close to the songbirds, it was beautiful.
Well, “The Good Life” was actually inspired by the lifestyle choice that many of my friends over the years have made and I’ve always kind of wanted but when you’re touring around it’s kind of hard to do. It’s kind of hard to run a homestead when you have to get up and go ride around on a tour bus every few weeks….
